No major disruptions or outages have occurred since going live on March 15th. A rapidly growing number of purchases have already been executed using the DEx. Following the successful launch of the DEx, the Mastercoin Foundation is excited to announce that it is starting a new Security Bug Bounty program for all of the Mastercoin properties.

Initially for the first month, a bounty of $6000 (MSC and added BTC) will be offered. There will be three categories in which this bounty is distributed based on the level of threat (high, medium, or low). For a breakdown of what qualifies in these different categories please see:

http://mastercointalk.org/index.php?topic=263.0

The goal of the security bounty is to embrace and encourage the spirit of responsible disclosure.

As the Mastercoin Foundation moves into Q2 of 2014, the development focus over the coming months will be centered on smart properties, specifically user generated currencies. Exciting days lie ahead as the framework is laid for organizations to have the ability to launch their own tokens using the Master Protocol.

Omniwallet

Since last week two new versions of Omniwallet have been released.

0.1.0 fixed several open bug issues and also added a new login scheme and encrypted server-side wallets.

0.2.0 released today includes new fixes with issues related to MSC/TMSC trades, security updates, and support for importing encrypted private keys (like the ones produced from the backup function).

To stay abreast of open Omniwallet issues and their priority/status, please visit:

https://github.com/mastercoin-MSC/omniwallet/issues

Please remain aware that we are still in a stage of testing, it is suggested that you do not store any real MSC using the Omniwallet until all open issues are resolved.

Mastercoin Tools

Adam Chamely created a one stop install script for mastercoin tools which can used by exchange operators to run Mastercoin on Linux based systems:

https://github.com/achamely/install-msc

Documentation for the install script and the tools it provides can be found at:

http://mastercoin-tools-installer.readthedocs.org/en/latest/

The latest commit on Mastercoin Tools is now live at:

https://github.com/grazcoin/mastercoin-tools/commit/396ab894b10c3780ba324feb939e1b94cec6d564

The latest commit addresses an issue with mastercoin-tools where there are few places in which the code was returning an error and causing halts. This is for not yet implemented parts of the Master Protocol and for situations which are not expected to happen. Once such a severe case happens – the flow should not continue. The goal is to fix it on the spot so that the history remains unchanged.

Masterchest

Zathras has released Masterchest Alpha 0.3C.

Alpha 0.3C focuses on major improvements in processing performance. Parsing is about the same but benchmarks show a 200%+ improvement in processing. Further, hash based chain re-organization protection has been upgraded. Last, some UI improvements and bugfixes have been added.

A new tutorial explaining how to install the Masterchest wallet is now available at:

http://masterprotocoleducation.org/how-to-install-the-masterchest-windows-wallet/

MyMastercoins

The Mastercoin Foundation will discontinue its support for the MyMastercoins Wallet on April 1st. The Mastercoin Foundation would like to thank Bitoy for developing a beautifully functioning Windows desktop wallet. The decision has been made however to consolidate to one supported implementation of a Windows desktop wallet. While the Mastercoin Foundation will no longer be funding the MyMastercoins Wallet, Bitoy may still release future updates.

This week, MyMastercoins Wallet 2.02.03 has been released by Bitoy and can be downloaded at http://www.mymastercoins.com/Wallet/MyMastercoinsWallet20203.zip

This update addresses issues with Action in MSC and TMSC getting mixed.

  1. Jacks says:

Please, please try to release also some non-technical, non-super geeky announcements, which could attract a larger audience to interest in Mastercoin. Now the whole project looks like a buch of coders developing cool stuff to each other.

The communication should be targeted to non-technical people, too!

    1. DominikZ says:

thanks, please take a look at the more recent announcements. And let us know what you think.
