The Mastercoin Foundation hosted its first Bay Area meetup on Wednesday evening, January 15, 2014, in Palo Alto at the offices of Perkins Coie LLP.The hosts, Taariq Lewis (Smart Property Lead) and Ryan Keenan (World Chapter Planter) declared the event a major success. There were over thirty Bitcoiners and Mastercoiners in attendance.
Taariq delivered two masterful talks during the three hour affair. The first talk gave an overview of the Masterprotocol and highlighted features such as the distributed exchange, user currencies, contracts for difference, and smart property. Several members of the Stanford Bitcoin meetup attended in order to hear Taariq’s second talk regarding Multisig and P2SH.
Spreading awareness about the Master Protocol and organizing chapters in cities around the world is very important to the Mastercoin Foundation. It was great to see the enthusiasm in those attending after Taariq spoke about the Master Protocol. Several attendees expressed interest in becoming an active part of the community by fulfilling some of the bounties we currently have open on Trello and also developing applications on top of the Masterprotocol. The evening concluded with a social hour that included stimulating conversation, pizza, and beer.
If you are interested in joining or starting a local Master Protocol chapter, please check out our Master Protocol Directory (http://www.masterprotocoldirectory.com) in order to see all existing chapters or contact Ryan Keenan directly (Ryan@mastercoin.org).
